The University of Findlay Chemistry Club and the Northwest Central Ohio local section of the American Chemical Society (ACS) will host a free, public webinar for all ages in recognition of the periodic table, which was introduced 150 years ago. The event will begin at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 26 in Frost Science Center’s Martin Lecture Hall.
The ACS’s Program-in-a-Box™ will unite various organizations from around the world for a live celebration of one of chemistry’s greatest achievements. Participants will explore the early efforts of scientists to organize the elements, seek to be the first online to answer elemental “table trivia” and meet the scientists who are studying the production of new superheavy elements.
Also included in UF’s event will be a Newhard Planetarium show at 8:30 p.m. featuring the element-themed video, “The Cosmic Recipe: Setting the Periodic Table.”
Pizza and drinks will be provided.
For more information, contact Nathan Tice, Ph.D., assistant chemistry professor, at 419-434-5890 or at tice@findlay.edu.
