The United Way of Hancock County announced that the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program has been canceled for this year.

For 2021 tax filing, the United Way is supporting an alternative option at: MyFreeTaxes.com

The website is a free, online and self-filing solution.

This United Way-sponsored program, in partnership with the IRS, allows individuals who make under $57,000 annually to file both their federal and state taxes for free.

The deadline to file 2021 taxes is April 18.
