The University of Northwestern Ohio is announcing the promotion of assistant coach Jill Segura to interim head coach of the Women’s Basketball team after the resignation of John McGinty. Segura began her career with the Racers in June, 2019.

McGinty resigned on January 11, 2021 after a year and a half with the university for another coaching opportunity.

“I want to thank Chris Adams, President Jarvis, and the rest of the UNOH athletic department for welcoming me into the community while giving me an opportunity of a lifetime” wrote McGinty in his resignation letter.

Director of Athletics, Chris Adams, effective immediately, promoted Coach Segura to interim head coach due to her familiarity with the team and its goals for this season.

“Coach Segura knows the ins and outs of this team and it’s players and will be able to seamlessly transition into the head coaching position as we continue in our season after beginning a 2-0 start early to the 2020-2021 campaign” said Adams.

Max Ethridge, a former Graduate Assistant for the team, will be stepping up his role to interim assistant coach.
