The Kenton High School Boys Varsity Tennis Team fell to Upper Sandusky High School 4-1 Monday afternoon.
Junior Hayden Robinson had the lone win for Kenton at 3rd singles with a 7-5, 7-5 decision in 2 sets.
Taj Chahal took his opponent to a 3rd set but fell 3-6, 6-2, 2-6 at 2nd singles while Landon Rush lost his first singles match 0-6, 3-6.
Seniors Rocco Longbrake and Ian Lyons lost their first ever varsity match by a score of 5-7, 3-6 and sophomores Cameron Zickafoose and Riley Messenger lost at 2nd Doubles 4-6, 2-6.
Coach Rick Collins said, “Although disappointed with the outcome, it was good to get out a play someone other than our teammates in very windy and challenging weather conditions. Several matches went to deuce and advantage points and I felt we competed. Too many errors kept resulted in games getting away from us. We have room for improvement and have 4 days of practice before our next match.”
Upper Sandusky Coach Aaron Frazee had this to say,”Good to get win #1. Very windy conditions made it tough and we played sloppy but I think early in the season it’s always good to have things that you can work on. Kenton’s kids did a good job of getting the ball back and making us hit winners which was tough in the wind. I was happy that Snowden and Mewhorter got their first varsity wins. They have worked hard to improve since last season.”
