When winter weather hits, it's great to see snowplows out clearing the roads of snow and ice.
The Bellefontaine Police Department shared information reminding motorists to drive safe around the vehicles.
They say you should give snowplows room to work, keeping in mind they are wide and can cross the centerline.
The trucks travel below the posted speed limit, so be patient and take it slow on the snow and ice. If you must pass, take extreme caution and be aware of the snow cloud.
Finally, a snowplow operator’s field of vision is restricted. You may see them, but they don’t always see you. Keep your distance and watch for sudden stops or turns.
