Wapakoneta Cancels Playoff Game Due to Positive COVID-19 Tests

The Wapakoneta School District has cancelled its playoff football game for tonight after three positive COVID-19 tests over the last 8 days among the team.

In a letter to the district’s residents, Superintendent Aaron Rex said they believe it is in the best interest of their student athletes and their coaches to cancel the event.  

He said the safety of their student-athletes is always their first priority.  

School administration consulted with the local Health Department, Mercy Health Lima, and the Ohio High School Athletic Association in order to do what they feel is best for all individuals.

Rex called it a very difficult decision and they are extremely disappointed for their football players and their families.
