Between the heat and the rain, attendance was way down for the 2018 Hardin County Fair.
Numbers on Sunday showed the paid gate at 513, compared to 2004 in 2017. Overall estimated attendance for the last day yesterday was 2873. Last year that figure was 11,222.
Total paid gate for the 2018 fair was 8168, which was down from last year’s paid gate of 10,074.
Overall estimated attendance for the 2018 fair was put at 30,165, compared to 56,415 in 2017.
The hour of inspiration on Sunday attracted 377 people. Attendance last year was 613.
Due to safety concerns, the popular demolition derby was cancelled Sunday evening. That event drew 1857 people to the grandstand last year.
Poor conditions on the ground also forced the cancellation of the Truck and Tractor Pull Friday night as well as the Dylan Scott concert Saturday night.
