The William Britton V.F.W. Post 6817 met recently in regular session.

At the meeting, the Post announced that it is looking for a few good men and women to come and take part in the workings of the Post.

That is to keep fresh and active members doing the work of the V.F.W. locally, county wide, district wide, statewide and National as well.

If you are interested in becoming a member give Commander Bud Gibson a call at 419-674-6388, and he can assist you with information, applications.

There is a need for more younger military individuals to get involved.

The following is the complete minutes of the meeting held earlier this month:

On Tuesday, July 6, 2021, the William Britton V.F.W. Post 6817 met in regular session with six members present. The meeting was opened per ritual. Discussion primarily was about Memorial Day 2021 and what was able to be done this year. In all 534 flags were placed at the graves of veterans in nine cemeteries that the Post decorates each year. Of the nine cemeteries they are in three counties. Union County has two cemeteries, Logan County has three cemeteries and Hardin County has four cemeteries to decorate with flags each and every Memorial Day. There have been people report to the Post about missing military markers in various cemeteries in all three counties. Any family that knows a marker is missing from their loved one’s grave please contact the Post or the service officer in your respective county.

The Post is looking for a few good men and women to come and take part in the workings of the Post to keep fresh and active members doing the work of the V.F.W. locally, county wide, district wide, state wide and National as well. No one does more for Veterans then the Veterans of Foreign Wars. If you are interested in becoming a member give the Commander, Bud Gibson a call at 419-674-6388 and he can assist you with information, applications and the need for more younger military individuals to get involved. 6817 has a rich history of its work in Mt Victory communities near and far. Service outside of the continental United States is required in the VFW and the commander and other members can assist in looking into your service record. We are highly motivated to see more younger men and women, who have served their in country in far away places, to become active members of 6817.
