Kenton Boys Varsity Baseball beats Elgin Local Schools 11 – 2

The Wildcats put Elgin away in 5 innings, led by a stellar all around performance from Kyle Thrush.

Kenton jumped on Elgin early and never gave up the lead from there. Leading off the game was Grady Kleman-Beazley with line drive single to left field, who made it to third after two stole bases. Anthony Hunt then walked, and with Hunt and Kleman-Beazley on 1st & 3rd the Wildcats pulled off a double steal to go up 1-0. Kyle Thrush followed that up with a 2 run home run over the left field fence and Kenton was up 3-0. 

Kyle Thrush helped his own cause again with a solo home run in the 3rd to push the lead to 4-0. Kenton tacked on 7 more runs in the 5th inning after a slew of hits and walks to cap off the scoring for the Wildcats. The game ended after the conclusion of the 5th inning due to weather.

Thrush went the distance on the mound, throwing a CG 5 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 7 BB, 7 K’s.

The Wildcats had 7 Hits, 7 BB, 7 SB on the night.

Thrush : 2-2, 2 HR, 2 R, 3 RBI, 2 BB

Kleman-Beazley : 2-2, 1 2B, 2 R, 2 BB, 4 SB

Luke Leffler : 1-3, 1 2B, 1 R, 1 BB, 1 SB

Seth Leffler : 1-3, 1 R, 1 SB

Alex Beach : 1-2, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 HBP

Hunt & Hunter Taylor drew walks.

JV Wildcats were also in action tonight against Elgin and came away with a 5-3 victory.

The Wildcats are back on the diamond Friday vs Elida, Varsity @ Elida 5:30 PM. JV home vs Elida 5 PM.
