Kenton Girls Tennis advances Carmean and Wilson to Day #2 of WBL Championships

Kenton had some strong play from Presley Wilson and Lilly Carmean.  Presley entered the tournament as a seventh seed and defeated St. Marys Memorial’s Delanni Wilker 6-1, 6-4.  Presley fell to #2 seed, Katie Guingrich of Celina 1-6, 4-6.  In the backdraw, Presley defeated Van Wert’s Lauren Gearhart 8-3.  Presley will return to UNOH on Saturday to play Alivia Mack from Lima Shawnee for fifth place in third singles.

Lilly Carmean defeated Lima Bath’s Tea Sibert 6-3, 7-6 (7-1).  Lilly moved on to play Lima Shawnee’s #1 first singles seed, Ava Patel.  Lilly fell 0-6, 0-6.  Lilly played Defiance’s Alyssa Ritchie and fell 2-8.  Lilly will play Elida’s  Emma Stauffer in the backdraw for seventh place.  

Kenton’s first doubles team of Marissa Fox and Lydia Lambert played a 2 1/2 hour marathon match. They fell to Van Wert’s Lilie Mulle and Carolina Zappa 6-7 (15-17), 7-5, 4-6.  The second doubles team of McKenna Stanforth and Katelyn Stevenson lost to Lima Bath’s Lily Volbert and Miley Lammers  1-6, 0-6.  Amanda Van Horn fell at second single’s to Lima Bath’s Briley Kaple 1-6, 4-6.

WBL Tournament play resumes on Saturday at 9:00 am.

Regular season play concludes on Monday, September 30 with a 4:30 pm match at home with Lima Senior.
