The Kenton girls started the first match slowly, but showed progress as the match progressed. Senior, Lilly Carmean had the only win for the Wildcats with a marathon match at first singles. She beat Upper Sandusky’s senior, Zoe LaMont, 2-6, 7-5, and 10-2 in the tiebreaker. At second singles, freshman Amanda Van Horn lost in straight sets to senior Alondra Diaz, 0-6, 0-6. Marissa Fox, senior, lost to Upper Sandusky’s third singles Mady Collins,(jr.), 0-6, 3-6.
The Kenton doubles teams won some games, but no sets. At first singles, senior Lydia Lambert and sophomore Mia Vermillion lost 3-6, 3-6 to Upper Sandusky seniors Kylee Sayre and Samantha Strong. Junior McKenna Stanforth and sophomore Katie Lowe, lost in their comeback effort to Laila Johns (jr.) and Addy Wagner (so.) 1-6, 5-7.
Junior varsity players, Katelyn Stevenson, Presley Wilson, Diana Nease, and Belle Werner gained valuable experience against several Upper Sandusky players.
Kenton in back in action tomorrow, August 13th, at home versus Marion Pleasant at 4:30 pm.
