In a hard fought battle, the Wildcats lost in the Sectional Final to Bryan, 3-2. Bryan started the game fast with several shots on goal before Senior Kinze Sprang restarted the ball after a Bryan foul and played it into the 18 yard box where Senior Emma Hougendobler was waiting as the Bryan Keeper failed to contain the ball and Hougendobler found the back of the net with 19:20 left in the first half (Emma’s 5th goal of the season/ Kinze’s 10th assist of the season). Just 29 seconds later, Kenton Freshman Ellie Minter stole the ball from a Bryan defender and shot a left footed missile at the Bryan Keeper that bounced off of her hands and into the goal to put Kenton up 2-0 (7th goal of the season).

Brayn was able to tie the game at 2 going into halftime off of a goal at the 10:55 mark and again with just 17 seconds remaining in the half.

The two teams continued to battle back and forth until Bryan was able to score the final goal of the match with 9:15 remaining.

The Kenton Wildcat Girls Soccer Team finished the season with a record of 6-11-1, winning 5 more games than all of last season (1-16-1 last season) and recording at least 6 wins for only the 8th time in the 25 seasons of Kenton Girls Soccer. The Kenton Defense stood strong all year as last year they allowed a blistering 97 total goals, this season, the Defense stood strong and allowed just 47 goals on the season.

Also on the night, Kenton Senior Ruby Styer, officially recorded 18 saves giving her 500 careers saves.

Seniors playing in their last game were Kinze Sprang, Emma Hougendobler, Ruby Styer, Chloe Hattery, Abby Schmelzer, Kyla Bostater, and Mia Musser.
