The Kenton wrestling team placed twelfth at the Sally George Invitational at Marion Pleasant High School this past weekend. Elgin High School won the tournament with 174.5 points. Ontario was second with 160 points and the host, Marion Pleasant, placed third with 158 points.
Four Wildcats made the podium in the twenty team tournament. Freshman, Isaac Blevins was the top placer for the Wildcats earning a third place finish at 165 lbs. Both Anthony Hunt and Matthew Handell made it to the semi-finals, winning their first two matches, but couldn’t get past the top seeds in their brackets. They both rebounded with a win in their consilation semi-final match, but were not able to win their final match to settle for forth place. Evan Elliott, wrestling at 175 lbs, was able to pick up two wins and place sixth at the tournament.
Kenton will be travelling to St. Marys on Thursday to face the Roughriders in a WBL dual match-up.
