Kenton’s girls tennis team finishes year with strong play

The Kenton girls finished their season on a positive note.  All of the singles players advanced to the second round  during the Div. II sectional play at UNOH.  Lilly Carmean defeated Anna Alvarado 6-2, 6-0.  In the second round, Lilly fell to Elida’s Abby Campbell 0-6, 0-6.  Amanda Van Horn won her first round match again Lima Bath’s Maddie Cheney, 6-3, 6-2.  In the next round, Amanda defeated Lima Central Catholic’s Emily Blankmeyer 6-2, 6-0.  She faced second-seeded Mandy Burenga in the quarterfinals and lost 0-6, 0-6. Presley Wilson added two more wins by defeating St. Mary’s Kelly Imwalle 6-0, 6-3, and Celina’s Jadice Dorsten 6-3, 6-0. Presley advanced to the quarterfinals to play  Lima Shawnee’s top-seeded Ava Patel.  Ava won 6-0, 6-0.

Kenton’s doubles teams played competitive tennis but both fell in the first round.  Marissa Fox and Lydia Lambert challenged Ayersville’s Avery Mohr and Sadie Stutton as they fell in three sets: 6-3, 4-6, 4-6.  Katelyn Stevenson and McKenna Stanforth fell to St. Mary’s doubles team of Logan Henschen and Delanni Wilker 4-6, 2-6.
