Gene A. Binau age 95 of Upper Sandusky, died Mon. Sept.30, 2024 at Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center. He was born Sept. 3, 1929 in Salem Twp. Wyandot Co. to the late Willis and Lela (Stoll) Binau. He first married to Marilyn Ann Hehr on July 23, 1950, she is deceased, he then married Sara Lou (Miller) Brown on July 23, 2009, she preceded him in death on Feb. 8, 2024. Surviving are his children Dirk (Candice) Binau, TX, Mark (Connie) Binau, Upper Sandusky, Angelee (Mike) Conner, AZ, Dal (Amy) Binau, Nevada, Kip (Karen) Binau, Harpster and Tenna (Michael) Ball, WA, 14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by brothers Melford Binau, Donald Binau, and sisters Peg Orians and Phyllis Weaver.
Mr. Binau graduated in 1949 from the former Salem High School where he played on very successful basketball teams. He was a member of the former North Salem Lutheran Church. He was Salem Twp. grain and livestock farmer, he operated a 100 head dairy. Gene starting building TeePee Campground in 1968 and it was officially opened in 1970 where he was the owner/operator until his retirement. Gene enjoyed every day, and he started early with his morning coffee and his farming friends at the grain elevator.
Funeral services will be held Sat. Oct. 5, 2024 at 12:00PM in the Bringman Clark Funeral Home with Pastor Barry Halter officiating. Interment will follow in North Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery, Wyandot Co. Visitation is from 10:00AM-12:00PM at the funeral home before time of services.
