The family has asked that everyone dress casual for all services.

Jef passed away on December 31, 2024, at his residence. He was born on August 12,1963, to Judy (Hall) Tackett and the late Dean Tackett. He married Lisa Routt on February 14,1983, and she survives in Kenton.

Also surviving are his mother, Judy Tackett of Kenton, 2 daughters; Amber (Doug) Mauch of Findlay, Cristen (John) Kalb of Kenton, sister, Michelle (Bob) Shepherd of Kenton, 5 grandchildren; Cooper, Cohen, and Laney Mauch, Kennedy, and Mackenzie Kalb, several nieces and nephews, best friend, Tony Rhoades, along with several other close friends, and his beloved dog, Hanna.

He was preceded in death by a brother, David Tackett.

Jef graduated from Kenton High School and Ohio High Point in 1981. He was a member of the Kenton Moose.

He was a jack of all trades. He could work on or fix almost anything. He worked in maintenance and custodial services for Hardin Memorial Hospital for 24 years, Kenton Elementary Schools for 18 years and helped maintain his family’s campground, Sulphur Lake Campgrounds for 25 years. Jef was also a DJ. He DJ’d for the Varsity Club in Kenton as well as starting his own company, Broken Arrow Sound Company where he was the “sound guy” for many weddings and events.

He had a love for the outdoors and never sat still. He loved to camp, fish, garden, do woodworking and work in his yard. Jef loved to photograph sunrises and sunsets, that he would send to his friends and family. He was a motorhead who loved to ride his motorcycle, take his 1940 Chevy Pickup to car shows and go to sprint car races with his friends.

Most of all Jef loved his family. He always looked forward to his family vacations to Myrtle Beach to spend time with them and make memories. He will be missed by all of those who knew him.

Memorial donations in Jef’s honor may be made to the Conkey Memorial Foundation through the funeral home or the Hardin County Dog Pound.
