James “Jim” Messmer age 64, of Wharton, died on Sunday August 18, 2019 at Wyandot Memorial Hospital.
He was born on October 5, 1954 to Earl and Grace (Cole) Messmer. He married Jeanne Moore on August 2, 1985 and she preceded him in death on May 4, 2007. He is survived by his mother Grace, sons Keith (Christa) Messmer of Forest, Kevin (Valerie) Messmer of Nevada, Kasey Messmer of Upper Sandusky, 3 grandchildren Justine, Collin and Kaitlyn, brother Jack (Pam) Messmer, Forest, and sisters Jenny (Leroy) Clark, Carey, Judy (Grant) Yeater, Carey, Jody (Jim) Bowman, Edison. He is preceded in death by his father Earl Messmer.
Jim was a 1972 graduate of Riverdale High School where he lettered in choir, basketball, track and cross country. He also attended Tiffin University and played basketball. Jim was a member of Wharton United Methodist Church. He was the owner and operator of Messmer Meats & Grocery Store in Wharton and retired from D&H Meats in Vanlue. Jim was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed coon hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed boating, camping and vacationing at Lake Cumberland.
Visitation will be held from 2pm- 4pm and 6pm to 8pm on Wednesday August 21, 2019 in Bringman Clark Funeral Home.
