A Mass of Christian Burial for Mariana Barbara Sherman will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, March 3, 2021, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Kenton, with Father Ed Shikina officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Kenton. Friends and family may visit from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday March 2, 2021 at the Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton. A rosary service will be held at 8:00 P.M. following the visitation. Masks will be required and Covid-19 protocols should be followed at all services.

Mariana died on Wednesday, February 24, 2021, at the Bridge Hospice Care Center in Findlay. She was born on December 4, 1929 in Mt. Victory to the late Carl and Olivia (Glaub) Scharf. On August 18, 1951 she married her husband of 55 years, Lester Sherman and he preceded her in death. Surviving are children Patricia (Richard) Carncross, Frederick (Ruth) Sherman, Mark Sherman, Kathleen Sherman, L. Vincent (Donna) Sherman, and Thomas (Krista) Sherman, 12 grandchildren,  12 greatgrandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers George, Carl, Stanley, and John Scharf, and granddaughter Sarah Ann Sherman.

Mariana retired from Ohio Northern University after 28 years as an Executive Secretary to the Vice President of Financial Affairs. Six years later, she retired from the MR/DD as Executive Director of the Hardin County Housing Development. Mariana was a member of the Grange for more than 60 years and was a 7th degree member. She was a life member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic in Kenton. She was also a member of the Blue Star Mothers of America for 48 years, where she was the Department of Ohio President and held many other offices.
