Monie D. Pitts was born September 12, 1923 at Lick Branch on the Middle Fork of Licking River near Fritz in Magoffin County, KY. She was the 12th of 15 children born to Amy (1886-1972) (Dyer) and Dennis (1883-1928) Dyer. Monie was the only living child from that union. Monie left this world at age 101 to meet her Savior, Jesus Christ, November 23, 2024 while a resident of Vancrest of Ada.
Monie married Hearl Pitts (1919-2007) in St. Joseph, MI and they have four children: Jimmie A. Pitts of Sidney; Eugene (Brenda) Pitts of Maumee; Carolyn Annette Shepherd of Lima and Phyllis Miller of Lima. Monie and the family moved to Hardin County in Ohio after the end of WWII in 1945.
Monie invited Jesus into her life February 28, 1949. Monie continued to follow Jesus and for several years was an Ordained Minister with Old Original Free Pentecostal Church of God in Jackson, KY. When she was healthy Monie liked to play her guitar in church and sing. Monie was also a past member and youth leader of Quickstep Pentecostal Church of God, Alger and a past member of the Pentecostal Tabernacle Church, Alger. She was an employee in the harvest months of fall for the Adams Canning factory in Alger.
Monie has thirteen grandchildren: James Henry (Malyn) Pitts, Bonnetta (Pete) DeFinis, Suzanne Osborn, Joeseph Lee (Trudy) Pitts, Robert Eugene Pitts, Michael Stephen (Kathi) Pitts, Jeffrey Wayne (JoAnh) Pitts, Cheryl Lynn Leonard, Curtis (Chris) Shepherd, Shawn (April) Shepherd, Jeremy (Annette) Shepherd, Rodney (Shelly) Miller and Deana (Chris) Lauck.
Monie has twenty-six great grandchildren and fourteen great-great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews which she was so proud of, especially her nephew, Bob Pitts.
Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 2, 2024 at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Alger with Pastor Dan Holbrook officiating. Burial will be in Preston Cemetery, Alger.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Monday, December 2nd from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Alger.
Memorial contributions may be made to the “Anointed Hearts” gospel group, 4650 Rockhouse Fork Road, Salyersville, KY 41465.
