Orville Sherman Roby passed peacefully on May 11, 2024. Orville was born in DeGraff, Ohio on January 2, 1933, to the late Carl and Carrie (Strong) Roby. A veteran of the Korean war, he served as Corporal in the Armed Infantry Platoon of the United States Army. Orville worked construction for Knowlton/Vesta for 33 years, working on projects such as BLHS and Riverfront Stadium. He married the love of his life, the late Christina Mae (Fay), on January 21, 1966, and they lived happily for 56 years surrounded by beloved family.
Orville is survived by daughter, Sharon (James) Larson; son, David (Tia) Roby; daughter, Becky (Chuck) Watkins; and daughter, Cindy Watkins; grandkids; Danielle (Joseph) Pollock, Destiny (Alex) Rotuno, Chris (Erin) Watkins, Brittany Roby Young, Dustin Roby, JD Roby, Lex Roby, Alexis Nickells, Dyllon Ropp, JJ Martin, and Misti (Josh) Moore; great-grandkids; Whitney, Connor, Caden, and Cooper Watkins; Ava and Jaylynn Martin; Wyatt, Brody, and Callen Moore; Addalyn, Asher, and Aiden Pollock; Avery and Amelia Young; and Ansley Rotuno; and sisters-in-law Mary J Fay and Betty Fay.
He was preceded in death by his wife Christina, grandson, Charlie Watkins, and 9 siblings.
Affectionately known as “Pappy”, Orville was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan, and he loved watching his grandkids and great grandkids play sports. If you drove by his house, you probably saw him outside in the garden, watching birds, tending to his immaculate flower beds, or decorating for any and all holidays. He was a member of the VFW Post #3333 and Rushsylvania United Methodist Church.
Services will be held at the Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton, Ohio. Visitation is Thursday, May 16, 2024, from 4-7 P.M. and the funeral will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024, at 11 A.M. Burial will follow at Grove Cemetery in Kenton.
