Rita Mae Gossard, 87 of Noblesville, IN and formerly of Kenton passed away on Tuesday, May 7,2024. She was born in Hardin County on September 1, 1936, to the late Aelred and Sylvia (Rhinehart) Guttenberg. On June 1, 1957, Rita married James B. “Jim” Gossard and he preceded her in death on November 27, 2015. She was a 1954 graduate of Kenton High School and worked at Essex Wire and Hardin Hills. Mrs. Gossard is survived by three daughters; Cathy (John) Ray of Kenton, Janet (Brian) Pierson of Fostoria and Anna (David) Wolf of Noblesville, IN. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Michelle (Melissa) Shininger, Christopher Ray, Jason (Laura) Pierson, Shawn (Bre) Pierson, Amanda (Aaron) Barlow, Nicole (Eric) Shelley, Kristin Wolf, Katelyn (Steven) Kudla, sisters; Betty Wilcoxon, Dorothy Guttenberg, Rose Hodgson and Helen (Jerry) Long. She was preceded in death by her sister, Irene Wood and brother, Robert Guttenberg. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Family was the most important thing to Rita. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved playing cards, reading and making puzzles. She also enjoyed watching basketball, especially The Ohio State University men’s and women’s basketball teams. In her younger years, Rita enjoyed planting flowers in the spring. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, from 3:00 – 7:00 PM at the SCHINDEWOLF-STOUT-CRATES FUNERAL HOME where a Rosary Service will begin at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 AM on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Kenton with Fr. Ryan Schmit. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
