Robert Joseph Butterman, age 88 of Mansfield and formerly of Kenton passed away at Wedgewood Estates in Mansfield on December 21, 2024. He was born in Detroit, MI on August 6, 1936 to the late George and Velma (Barron) Butterman. He married Barbara Weston on August 4, 1955 and she preceded him in death in 2011. He is survived by three children, Vicki (Ehab) Kamal, Deidre (John) Dillon and Mark (Angela) Butterman; seven grandchildren, Sam, Joe, Weston, Chris, Nick, Ashley, and McKenzie, seven great-grandchildren and three sisters, Pat (Jack) Accountius, Barb Summerlin and Marilyn Balthrope. He was also preceded in death by brothers, David and Paul Butterman.
He was a 1954 graduate of Kenton High School and received his undergraduate degree from Ohio Northern University. He served in the US Marine Corps from 1954-1974 and received two Purple Hearts and numerous other awards. He served two tours as a fighter pilot during the Vietnam War. He operated several realty companies including Charter Realty and retired as a realtor/broker in Mount Dora, FL and returned to Ohio in 2013 to be closer to family. He was an avid golfer and was involved in the Lions Club and Elks Club in Kenton.
Visitation will be held from 4-7pm Friday, December 27, 2024 at SCHINDEWOLF-STOUT-CRATES FUNERAL HOME. A funeral service will be held at 10am Saturday, December 28, 2024 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Kenton.
