Robert Gossard, 67, of Kenton, passed away at 8:21 a.m., Saturday, February 16, 2019, at the Lima Memorial Hospital.  He was born on February 18, 1951 in Ashland, OH to the late Warren and Mildred (Coleman) Gossard.  He married Barbara Weaver on May 25, 1973, and she survives.

Robert is also survived by his daughters: Katherine (Michael) Piper and Mandy (Brandon) France; his grandchildren: Dustin (Letitia) Zachariah, Derick (Marisa) Bailey, Kevin Bailey, Mara France, Bryant Piper and Jaymie

(Nathan) Rodenberger; his great-grandchildren: Hailey, Deakon, Jayden, Braxten, Aizlyn, Carson, Arianna and Gabriella; his siblings: Dixie

(Robert) Shepherd and Larry Gossard; his step-siblings: Tom Myers, Bill Myers, Sis Deckling and Francis Poe.

 

He was preceded in death by his step-siblings: Bob Myers, Don Myers, Dorothy Purcell and Jean Janca.

 

Robert was U.S. Marine Corp Veteran having served our country in the Vietnam War from 1969-1973.  He was a1969 graduate of Kenton Senior High School.  He retired from Rockwell International, where he was a certified Journeyman Welder.

 

Robert was the founder of the Kenton Tae Kwon Do Program and holder of his 1st Degree Black Belt.  He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W., Amvets and N.R.A. He was a member of the American Legion, Elks Lodge and Moose Lodge.

He had served on the Buck Township Zoning Board of Appeals, Ridgemont Local School Board, Hardin County Educational Service Center, Ohio Hi Point Career Center, and was the Past President of the Hardin County Chamber of Commerce.

Robert was the owner of Green Hills Coach Park and the Mt. Victory Hardware.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 21, 2019, at SCHINDEWOLF-STOUT-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Kenton, with Pastor Jason Manns officiating.  Burial will be in Grove Cemetery, Kenton, where full military rites will be conducted by the Amvets Post 1994.

 

Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday at

SCHINDEWOLF-STOUT-CRATES FUNERAL HOME.
