Entrepreneurs can now apply for nine additional liquor licenses within the newly established Kenton Historic Courthouse District (KHCD) Revitalization District. This expansion, spearheaded by the KHCD in partnership with Kenton City Council, utilizes a strategic nine-block radius to bypass traditional state quotas and recruit new dining and entertainment venues to the downtown core.

The licenses are officially open for application through the State of Ohio’s online Ohio Permit and Licensing (OPAL) system and is available at https://opal.ohio.gov.

“This is a pivotal moment for downtown Kenton,” said Jennifer Ramge, KHCD Coordinator. “By removing traditional barriers to obtaining liquor licenses, KHCD is creating a direct path for growth, vibrancy, and long-term economic sustainability in our historic district.”

As the primary advocate for downtown’s future, the KHCD led the effort to establish the Revitalization District to provide a competitive edge for business recruitment. This initiative aligns with the organization’s broader mission of property redevelopment and strengthening the local small business ecosystem. Applicants must complete all required state and local approvals through the Ohio Division of Liquor Control.
