Among the many societal byproducts of the COVID-19 pandemic is an increase in online puppy scams, with Ohio being one of the most-affected states.
Findings from the Better Business Bureau show 2,400 online puppy-scam complaints between April and September of 2020, a 280-percent increase over such reports from that period of 2019.
Ohio is listed as one of the 15 worst states for online puppy sales, with an average of $665 lost through CashApp and similar methods of transaction.
