Two workers from a Wapakoneta utility company are in Tallahassee, Florida to provide mutual aid to the area that is bracing for a major hurricane.
The area is in line to be impacted from high winds and heavy rain from Hurricane Helene, a massive storm that is over 500 miles wide and is projected to strengthen to a Category 4 storm, as it makes landfall later this evening.
Michael Sparks and Travis Walls, from the Wapakoneta Electric Department traveled to Tallahassee after city officials put out a request for mutual assistance to help restore service in the wake of the storm.
Wapakoneta city officials praised the two for their willingness to travel out of state.
They say it is a testament to their unwavering commitment to public safety and service.
