The village of Ada Tornado Siren, which was installed last week, has been programmed and is active as of Monday.

The system will activate a 3 minute steady alert which will be audible to the entire village should the national weather service issue a Tornado Warning for the county.

The alert is automatically transmitted to the unit by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Should the siren alert be activated, residents are encouraged to immediately seek shelter and additional information to determine the exact path of the tornado.

Village officials are now working to determine a good day and time for a routine monthly test of the siren.
