AEDs Gifted to Several Local Schools Thanks to Mary Rutan Health’s Commitment to Emergency Preparedness

Mary Rutan Health is helping to boost emergency preparedness in several local schools.

With the support of Mary Rutan Foundation funding, several AEDs were recently purchased to use at their partner schools.

Athletic trainers from five local schools were able to receive an AED to utilize in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest.

They stated that they hoped the AEDs never have to be used, but that Mary Rutan Health recognizes the importance of ease of access to these devices for the athletic trainers who serve in their partner schools.

According to the American Heart Association, 9 in 10 cardiac arrest victims who receive a shock from an AED in the first minute live.

The hospital also stated that they are committed to ongoing efforts in this and other areas of sports cardiology as they continue to serve their community.

Athletic trainers that received the AEDs from Mary Rutan Health include:

Rich Garber – Upper Scioto Valley School District

Lauren Coy – Benjamin Logan Local School District

Melissa Noble – Jackson Center Local Schools

Kassidy Esser – Ridgemont Local Schools

Paul Miller – Bellefontaine City Schools
