Allen Foundation Awards $170,000 in Scholarships in 2021

The R.E. and Joan S. Allen Foundation announced the awarding of $135,000 in scholarships to 87 students for the 2022/23 year.

The scholarships were awarded to graduates from Kenton High School and employees or their family members of Graphic Packaging, Kenton plant.

In May, the Foundation awarded 50 first year scholarships in the amount of $65,000 to graduating seniors. Renewal scholarships are $70,000 to 45 students.

Twenty-five second year scholarships in the amount of $37,000 were awarded to: Claire Bailey, Jay Baum, Britton Bell, Lauren Case, Eden Cronley, Carley Dearing, Jacob Eversole, Augustin Forester, Jed Fulton, Laney Harpel, Kaitlen Heberling, Mary Heilman, Megan Horner, Blaine Huston, Lenore Kohl, Erin Lyons, Alyssa McLoughlin, Lily Osborn, Preston Rembis, Owen Styer, Samantha Unger, Alexia Wetherill, Callie Wright, Keegan Wright and Ethan Wirbel.

Fourteen third year scholarships in the amount of $26,000 were awarded to: Meredith Bischoff, Bailie Clark, Allison Cummins, Luke Fackler, Alexis Grubbs, Riley Hershberger, Trey Jefferies, Gene Longbrake, Chesney Moore, Emily Pistorova, Landon Rush, Aubrey Thrush, Garrett Thomas and Caitlin Tudor.

Six fourth year scholarships in the amount of $11,000 were awarded to: Landon Bartlett, Elizabeth Heintz, Haley Hunt, Jacob Jolliff, Keller Stout and Lyndi Taylor.

The Allen Foundation in 32 years has awarded over $3 million dollars in scholarships to 1530 students.

Scholarship awards have ranged from $250 to $12,000.

Mr. R.E. Allen, who died at the age of 98 in June of 2019, always commented, “It is my desire that these scholarships will enable recipients to become self-reliant, skillful and successful members of our community.”
