April 2019 Fourth Highest Month for New Business Filings in Ohio

COLUMBUS – Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose today announced 12,385 new entities filed to do business in Ohio in April. This is the fourth highest monthly total in state history behind March 2019, April 2018, and March 2017, respectively.

In 2019 alone, nearly 50,000 new businesses have filed to do business in Ohio.

“2019 can now claim two of the four best months in state history for new business filings,” said LaRose. “More and more, entrepreneurs are looking to Ohio as a place to start their business, and we stand ready to help make it happen.”

NOTE: New business filings are classified as forms filed with the Ohio Secretary of State that declare the formation of a business entity, including for-profit, non-profit and professional corporations, limited liability companies, partnerships, limited partnerships and limited liability partnerships. Filing as a business in Ohio does not guarantee the company will begin operations, be profitable, or create jobs.
