Bellefontaine Police warn of another scam making the rounds this holiday season.
A release on the department’s Facebook page cautions residents that calls have been made warning the recipient of imminent utility shut-offs absent an immediate payment. Compounding the issue with these calls is that the scammers may duplicate the actual utility company’s number.
Residents who receive such calls are advised not to give out personal information, and to hang up and call the local company themselves.
