A levy to provide additional funds to the BKP Ambulance District is on the March 19 ballot.
BKP Chief Chad Smith drafted a letter to residents of the district explaining why the additional money is needed.
The costs for EMS supplies, fuel and personnel have drastically increased, noted Smith.
He also said there is a nationwide shortage of EMS personnel and BKP is one of the lowest paying full-time departments within a 50 mile radius and $5 below the national average.
Additional money is needed, said Smith, in order to acquire and retain competent personnel.
