Carey Man Arrested After Fatal Shooting Sunday

The victim in a fatal shooting that occurred Sunday in Carey has been identified.

According to a release from the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office, deputies found the body of 53 year old Daren B. High laying in the front yard of his residence in the 500 block of Vance Street in the village.

He was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay where he died.

51 year old Melvin E. Nash, a neighbor of the victim, was identified as the suspect and was arrested. 

Detectives recovered several weapons and other items from Nash’s residence.

Nash was arrested and is currently being held in the Wyandot County Jail on murder charges.

Formal charges are expected to be presented to a Wyandot County Grand Jury at a later date.

The case remains under investigation.
