Celebrating 100th Anniversary of Women’s Suffrage Movement

University of Findlay’s Division of Advancement recently celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Women’s Suffrage Movement through a virtual, multidisciplinary presentation for UF donors. A recording of the presentation is being released today in honor of the anniversary.

A pivotal moment in history, the movement led to the ratification of the 19th Amendment by Congress on August 18, 1920, and gave women in the United States the right to vote.

The “Virtual Celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the Women’s Suffrage Movement” webinar took an interdisciplinary viewpoint to discuss different aspects of the movement. Featured speakers included host Dr. Marcia Latta, vice president of university advancement, Dan Chudzinski, curator at the Mazza Museum, Dr. Sarah Fedirka, associate professor and chair of the English department, Dr. Rick States, dean of the college of health professions, and Kathy Dowd, curator at the Maumee Valley Historical Society.

Continuing the celebration of this great moment in history, the Women’s Suffrage Movement exhibition is on display in the University of Findlay’s Mazza Museum. The exhibition is on display in the Catherine Freed Galleria where it will stay through September 2020. Included in the exhibition is artwork by Cheryl Harness, Maria Kalman, Matt Faulkner, Pamela Johnson, Rebecca Gibbon, and Sarah Green.
