Funeral services for Charles Russell Long will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton with Rev. Randall Forester officiating. Burial will follow at Grove Cemetery in Kenton. Friends and family may visit 2 hours prior to services at the funeral home. Due to Covid-19, the family has asked that masks be worn to all services.

He died on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at Vancrest of Ada. He was born on February 19, 1939 in Kenton to the late Paul and Dorotha (McClain) Long. On August 9,1964 he married Barbara Fisher and she survives in Kenton.

Also surviving are a daughter; Laura (Jerry) Bilbrey of Bellefontaine, 2 sons; Kenny Long of Kenton, Doug (Peggy) Long of Kenton, a sister; Patricia Katterjohn of Kenton, 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren with one on the way.

He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law; Peggy Long and a brother-in-law; Jack Katterjohn.

Charles was a 1957 Kenton High School graduate and a U.S. Army Veteran.

He worked for Seiferd-Hossellman in Kenton, then was head of Maintenance for Universal Cooperative in Kenton until his retirement.

Charles was a member of the First Christian Church in Kenton.

He was a very handy man, who enjoyed building and flying kites, working and driving, RC planes and RC boats. Charles also enjoyed woodworking. He entered many of his projects in the fair and won many awards and prizes. He was part of a Woodworking club in Kenton, and they helped build the many various wood decorations for the Lake of Lights. When he wasn’t tinkering around, Charles enjoyed fishing and photography, especially trying new things with the film development.

Memorial donations may be made to the Hardin County Fair or the donor’s choice.
