The Kenton City Schools Board of Education held a special meeting Monday evening to take care of several personnel issues.

One of the items not taken care of was the hiring of Jason Jones as High School Principal.

Superintendent Jennifer Penczarski pointed out that Jones, the assistant high school principal, is the committee choice to replace Chad Thrush, who will be the next superintendent beginning July 1.

The outgoing superintendent said the item was not added to the special meeting agenda because an offer can’t be made to Jones until an administrative contract has been approved, “Please know Jason is our choice. Jason will do a fabulous job. There is a committee that interviewed him, but if it’s okay, we posted the assistant (principal) position as open, but just know that’s why he is not on the agenda, so it’s crucial that we get the finance committee meeting set to finalize that admin contract.”

The next regular meeting of the Board of Education is scheduled for June 21.
