A counterfeit money ring was broken up in Ada Wednesday afternoon.

The Ada Icon reported that the Ada Police Department executed a search warrant at 102 1/2 North Main Street, Apartment 5, where around $50,000 in counterfeit currency was confiscated and along with several items that were believed to have been purchased with the fake money.

The occupant of the apartment, Deyond Markus Marvin White, was taken into custody in Kenton on a charge of possessing counterfeit money, and additional charges are likely.

The arrest came after an on-going investigation by the Ada Police Department, which was assisted by the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office and the United States Secret Service.

Sheriff Keith Everhart said they are unsure at this point if the counterfeit operation in Ada was connected to the passing of counterfeit money at several locations in Kenton and Mt. Victory within the past couple of weeks.
