A Dine-to-Donate event to buy an Ohio Historical Marker for Hall of Fame pitcher Ray Brown is being held at El Campo Mexican Restaurant in Ada on Monday, June 24.
The restaurant is donating 10 percent of their proceeds from 4:00pm until 9:00 Monday evening.
The Ray Brown marker was approved last summer, but fundraising remains around $1500 short of the cost.
The marker will be unveiled later this year in Brown’s hometown of Alger, at the ball field soon to be renamed “Ray Brown Memorial Park.”
Brown pitched in the pre-integration Negro Leagues for a legendary Homestead Grays team that also featured Josh Gibson, Buck Leonard, and Cool Papa Bell.
That team won eight pennants in a nine-year span from 1937 to 1945.
El Campo Mexican Restaurant in Ada is located at 204 N. Main Street in Ada.
