Elsie Horne, 104 of Kenton, passed away Sunday, October 25, 2020. She was born on February 22, 1916 in Van Lear, KY to the late Willie and Amanda (Blanton) Butcher. Elsie married Richard Horne on January 27, 1934 and he preceded her in death on November 6, 1981. Surviving are her children; Earl (Kay) Horne of Belle Center, Ohio, Marsha (Frank) Dorsten of Delphos, Ohio, Claudia (Bruce) Brown of Johnson City, TN, daughter-in-law, Anna Horne of Perrysburg, Ohio, sister-in-law, Lawana Butcher of Kenton, 11 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, Doug Horne, daughter, Doris Mae Stanley, brothers; John and Kurt Butcher and 5 sisters; Phyllis Byers, Geneva Shaffer, Opal Columber, Elizabeth Sharp and Ivory McQuown. Elsie worked for many years at Hardin Memorial Hospital in the housekeeping department. She was a long time member of Faith Baptist Church. Elsie enjoyed taking trips back home to Van Lear, KY and was proud that she was a second cousin to Loretta Lynn. In her later years she enjoyed watching John Wayne on television. A funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm on Friday, October 30, 2020 at the SCHINDEWOLF-STOUT-CRATES FUNERAL HOME where the family will receive friends from 11:00 am until the time of service. Burial will follow in Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Elsie to the Faith Baptist Church, 402 E. Forest Rd. Kenton, OH 43326.
