Erma C. Mays

Erma C. Mays age 98, of Upper Sandusky, went home to join her family in heaven on June 19, 2020.

She was born on March 24, 1922 to the late Anthony F. and Lavina P. (Kirian) Lucius. She married Maurice J. Mays on June 10, 1948. He preceded her in death on January 12, 1989. Erma is survived by her children Diana (Ed Nye) Elchert, Carey, Marlene (Dave) Kennedy, Upper Sandusky, Steven (Betty) Mays, Elida and Mark Mays, Upper Sandusky, 14 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, sisters Anna Carr, Martha Niederkohr, Donna Toland, Rose (Frank) Arnold and Emma (James) Reile. She is preceded in death by a daughter-in-law Gaynell Mays, brothers Karl Lucius, Clarence Lucius, sisters Mercedes Jones, Helen Tiell and Bernadine Niederkohr.

She grew up on a farm and knew the value of hard work. Mrs. Mays was a homemaker most of her life. She did work at Swan Rubber, Chief Dairy and St. Peter’s School. Mrs. Mays was a member of Transfiguration of the Lord Catholic Church.

She was an Auxiliary member of the American Legion #225, Moose #1093, and Amvets #777, and a CLC member. Mrs. Mays enjoyed gardening, dancing, going on bus trips, decorating cakes, and playing cards with her sisters. She loved spending time with her family, and Christmas was her favorite time of the year.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wed. June 24, 2020 at 11:00AM in Transfiguration of the Lord Catholic Church with Father Conrad Sutter OFM Conv. and Deacon Kevin Wintersteller officiating. Interment will follow in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery. Visitation we be held at the church on Tues. June 23, 2020 from 4-7PM with a CLC memorial service followed by a Catholic Scripture Service beginning at 6:30PM. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Peter’s Catholic School in care of Bringman Clark Funeral Home 226 E. Wyandot Ave. Upper Sandusky, OH 43351.
