During totality of the Solar Eclipse on Monday, Hardin County Astronomy Club Secretary David Humphries said it will be safe to view with the naked eye, “You can take your glasses off and look at the corona around the moon. The sun’s corona is the upper atmosphere of the sun, and it will be a little bit bright, but it will be safe to view without your glasses on.”

Humphries stressed that is the only time during the eclipse that you won’t need proper glasses, “Everybody needs to be safe in how they view the eclipse. Don’t look at the sun with your naked eye. Have the proper filtering.”

The parital eclipse starts at 1:55 Monday afternoon. Totality will start at 3:10 and last around 4 minutes. The eclipse will be over at 4:26 Monday afternoon.

Hardin County Sheriff Keith Everhart said has a full staff on duty since yesterday, “We have a lot of plans in place, extra fuel and extra personnel, no vacations and no sick days. I’m doing from Thursday to Thursday just to make sure, because I don’t know when these folks are supposed to strat showing up, and I don’t know when they’re going to leave.”
