The first Hardin Half Marathon Presented by Quest Federal Credit Union was held in downtown Kenton on October 24.

The in-person event following current COVID protocols, involved the participant’s choice of doing a Half Marathon, a 5 K, a 25 Mile Bicycle Ride or a 1 mile Fun
Run/Walk starting in downtown Kenton and following the pre-determined courses west of Kenton.

The event was organized with the blessing of the Kenton City Parks & Recreation Board, and support was provided by City of Kenton, Hardin County Commissioners, City of Kenton Police Department and the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office.

The event was organized to benefit the United Way of Hardin County with all proceeds being donated to their annual campaign which is currently taking place.

The event had approximately 70 registrants divided among the 4 events.

The Ohio Health Wellness Center team was present offering complimentary assistance to any participants that needed it pre or post event.

The organizing committee consisted of Robert & Stephanie Temple, Megan Manns, and Lorraine Dietz.

Today, the Temples, who are the honorary co-chairs of this year’s United Way campaign, presented a check to United Way Director Michele Daniels in the amount of $3,656.43.

The event was sponsored by the following local businesses:

We also want to thank Chad & Jessica Shepherd, Lowery Farms, John & Angela Rembis, and Ag Credit for being water stops, potty break, and turn around locations.

The committee would also like to thank Scott Sorgen/Graphic Packaging, Golden Graphics, Classic Trophy, and the Department of Transportation who stepped up and assisted with our cause providing in kind donations.

This was the inaugural event and it will be planned to take place again in the fall of 2021.

The committee plans to expand not only the 2021 committee but the event itself, considering the valuable feedback from this year’s participants.
