Forest Mayor Dean Hankins spent several years as a Village Council member, and felt ready to step into the role as mayor.
When he started in January of this year, things were going well, but no one could know what was looming on the horizon.
When the coronavirus pandemic struck, Hankins said all of his best made plans pretty much had to be put on the back burner to deal with the crisis.
He credits his background in the medical field for helping him adjust.
Hankins also gave high marks to council members, village staff and new Village Administrator Chase Fletcher for going above and beyond in continuing to provide needed services to village residents.
The mayor also praised village residents for their patience and for coming together to help those in need.
