Kenton hosted Fostoria at home Tuesday night and lost a close match that came down to the first doubles team.

First doubles of Kayce Sherman and Aaliyah Rogers lost a close three setter to Fostoria’s Jenny Chasco and Raelyn Hoffman 3-6, 6-4, 4-6.

“Kayce and Aaliyah stepped up tonight and had to adjust playing together after Samantha Lowe was sick and unable to play. We were pleased with how they communicated and were able to come back and win some games. They were down in the second set 1-4 and came back to win 5 games in a row. This takes great mental focus. Kayce had great ground strokes and Aaliyah was very active at the net. This was a hard loss for Kayce and Aaliyah but we hope they continue to work well together,” said Coach Katie Isenbarger.

The second doubles team for Kenton of Abbey Anglemyer and Lainey Cole lost to Fostoria’s Imani Velazguez and Shay Ohn 6-1, 6-0.

In singles actions the two wins came from first singles Mykaela Schriber and third singles Grace Collins.

Mykaela Schriber topped Mya Weinerskirch of Fostoria 6-0, 6-1 at the first singles spot.

Kenton’s second singles Lily Osborn fell 6-3,6-4 to Abrianna Swartz of Fostoria.

In third singles, Kenton’s Grace Collins won her first varsity match over Fostoria’s Maddie Cook 7-5, 6-3.

“I was very proud to see Grace win after such a close match yesterday. She held her own and dictated points. Mykaela did a good job hitting winners and moving her opponent. We have two more matches this week and hope to continue getting better with each.”
Kenton travels to play Lima Central Catholic on Wednesday.
