Dolly Parton was presented a quilt with blocks created by each county.

Hardin County’s block was designed by children at the Ridgemont Public Library.

Ohio First Lady Fran DeWine and Dolly Parton

Parton sat down with Ohio First Lady Fran DeWine and told the crowd she was inspired to start the program nearly 30 years ago when she found out her dad had never learned to read, “”That’s what gave me the inspiration to do the program, and I said ‘Dad, I’m going to start something you’re going to have to help me with, and that was the Imagination Library, and my dad got to live long enough to see it doing really well, and he got such a big kick out of hearing the kids call me the book lady.”
