The Findlay Police Department is scheduled to undergo a three-day, site-based assessment as part of a voluntary program to maintain accredited status with the Commission for Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) for law enforcement standards by verifying the agency meets professional standards.
The CALEA accreditation program requires agencies to comply with applicable law enforcement standards in four basic areas: policy and procedures, administration, operations and support services. While onsite, the assessors will review agency policies and practices, interview personnel, and observe operations.
As a part of the site-based assessment, agency employees and members of the community are invited to offer comments by calling 567-301-2710 on Tuesday, July 30 between the hours of 2:00pm and 4:00pm.
Telephone comments are limited to 10 minutes and must directly address the agency’s ability to comply with CALEA’s standards.
Calls will be taken by CALEA assessors. An overview of CALEA standards can be found on CALEA’s website at www.calea.org.
Agency employees and the public also have the opportunity to offer comments by attending a public information session on Tuesday, July 30, 2019, at 6pm. The public hearing will be conducted on the first floor of the Findlay Municipal Building in Council Chambers, 318 Dorney Plaza, Findlay, Ohio.
