A staple of the Hardin County Fair is the popular ring toss game for a chance to win a cane.
The family owned Deerwester Canes is currently owned by Carl Deerwester who said they have operated at the fair for a very long time, “When we enter this year’s fair, it’s 129 years that we’ve been sitting right here in Kenton, right here in the middle of the fair. “
Deerwester said he gets asked a lot about how many canes they give away, to which he answered all that they can. He said his grandpa once put a figure on it, “Grandpa one time said that when he went to fairs, he would give away up to 5000 to 10,000 a week, depending on where he was at, different municipalities, different counties, different sizes things like that, but we give away a lot.”
Deerwester Canes is operating again this year at the Hardin County Fair through this Sunday at the fairgrounds in Kenton.
