The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office will participate in the Click It Or Ticket Campaign May 24 through June 6.
They are encouraging all motorists to buckle up this Memorial Day weekend and throughout the year.
The Sheriff’s Office along with other agencies across the nation are stepping up their enforcement efforts for motorists who are not wearing their seat belts.
They are asking that you and all your passengers wear your safety belt each and every time you travel.
Ohio Safety belt laws still remain a secondary violation, however deputies continue a zero-tolerance enforcement effort when motorists are stopped for other violations..
Currently, the maximum penalty for a seat belt violation is $88 for the driver, $78 for a passenger and a child restraint violation will cost you $150, plus court costs.
