The Hardin County Commissioners started negotiations with their counterparts in Logan County regarding the rate for the Juvenile Detention Center.

Logan County Commissioners have requested an increase of $209 effective January 1, 2020. Hardin County is asking for a rate of $150.

The current rate is $80 per day.

A rate increase is necessary due to a change of philosophy in dealing with juveniles that has resulted in a decline in the number of juveniles sent to the facility. Most are being sent to stay with their families or other relatives or even foster care instead of being detained at the center.

The Logan County Commissioners are discussing the request of $150 rate.
