Hardin County Ag Society Eliminates Reserved Seats for Grandstand Entertainment

The Hardin County Agricultural Society met for the November meeting this past Wednesday evening.  

The board moved to do away with reserved seats for all grandstand events and increase all general admission prices by $1.00.

That makes all of them $7.

Pit prices were set at $10.  

Judi Cronley, Fair Board Secretary/Treasurer, stated there are currently 20 livestock buyers who still need to pay around $15,000.  

Livestock exhibitor checks will start to be mailed at the end of this week to those whose buyers have paid.  

Jack McBride, Junior Fair Livestock Sale Committee Chairman, stated the Livestock Sale Committee meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, December 8th at 6pm.  

Brad Murphy, Concession and Vendor Chairman, stated his committee needs to meet and discuss the new proposed 3 year contract with Durant Amusements.  

The Fair Board Director election is scheduled for tomorrow from 3-7pm in the Fair Office.  

The Annual membership and reorganizational meeting is also scheduled for this Saturday evening starting at 7:30.

The Hardin County Agricultural Society met Wednesday, November 4, 2021, for their November monthly board meeting. Twelve directors and seven guests were present.

Corey Ledley, Board President, called the meeting to order.

Sherri Beale, representing the High School Art Teachers, stated they would like their art projects judged and students to receive individual premiums. They are then requesting all premiums be mailed to their respective schools to be distributed by the teachers. They are aware projects need to be entered by the JR Fair deadline of July 31st. Mark Badertscher, OSU Hardin County Educator, discussed the carcass show.

Under correspondence, Thank You cards were read from the Ridgemont FFA members, Sullivan’s and Schwemer’ s.

Brad Murphy, Executive Committee Chairman, stated a meeting will be set with the Executive Committee members to discuss the 2022 Budget, employee contracts, bonuses and rental rates. It was also noted a new executive committee will be formed at the December Board meeting.

Corey Ledley stated another Development committee meeting will be scheduled soon.

Craig Stump, Co Chairman of the ground’s committee, stated 2 water lines had to be fixed. A quote has been received to paint the walls in the Community Building. Winter storage for campers, trailers and boats is now full. Inventory sheets are now due for insurance purposes. The new handicap parking lot will be finished in the Spring.

After this meeting, individual livestock committees will discuss their departments for the fair book. Discussion was then held on adding the COVID policy for livestock exhibitors in the fair book or not. Exhibitors are encouraged to go the Fair’s website for added policies closer to the fair.

Jake McFadden, Advertising/Sponsorship Committee Chairman, discussed the committee meeting held in October to set their budget for 2022. The board accepted their minutes and budget proposal.

Under old business:

A reminder was given about the Fair Board Director election that is scheduled for this Saturday, November 6th, from 3-7pm in the Fair Office. The Annual membership meeting and reorganizational meeting is also scheduled for this Saturday, Nov. 6th at 7:30pm in the Community Building. Judi also reminded the directors that the district fair board meeting is scheduled for tomorrow night at the Auglaize County Fairgrounds.

Under new business:

The JR Fair Affidavit for the Ohio Dept. of Agriculture and the JR Fair Report for the Ohio Dept. of Agriculture were approved by the board. The board agreed to move all but $6,000 of the VLT money to the general account, to cover harness racing expenses. It was noted the new EMS building on the fairgrounds needs to be added as a building for insurance purposes.

The next Fair Board meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, December 1st at 7pm.
